"Gaza is becoming a big grave."
Dear David,

Since my last email to you, the situation inside Gaza has rapidly deteriorated.

More than two million Palestinian civilians are trapped on a strip of land that is blocked by land and sea. Their water, fuel and medical supplies are running out.

I am calling for your urgent support to get humanitarian aid to children and families who will lose the most in this crisis.

Please donate here now to help people living in unimaginable horror.

  • $60 could help provide first aid and medicine to pregnant women and children.
  • $250 could help provide medical treatment for sick children under six years old.
  • $580 could help provide psychosocial support to mothers and their children.

Act for Peace’s local partner on the ground, The Near East Council of Churches Gaza (NECC), runs three health clinics in Gaza.

Clinic staff have stayed behind to continue to provide medical care to those Palestinians who can’t evacuate – including children, the elderly and pregnant women.

Communication with our partner is patchy, but the last I heard, they were living under non-stop bombardment and air strikes.

Gas and electricity were cut off days ago.

There is no internet connection. They don’t know what has happened to their families, or what will happen to them next.

Please give now to bring urgent humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.

When we last heard from Lubna, the Head of NECC’s Health Department, she said,

β€œThe situation is very awful and scary.

Hospitals are over flooded with death and injured people. Medical teams are helpless. The death toll among civilians increases dramatically most of them are women, children, and elders. Gaza is becoming a big grave.”

Amidst the horror there is decency and kindness, David. It gives me hope that peace can, ultimately, prevail.

Christian and Orthodox churches have become refuges. Church community members have scoured their neighbourhoods for supplies of food, water and mattresses, and are doing what they can to support their community.

Will you help too, please David? Give now to help get medical treatment and essentials to the people of Gaza.

Late last week, Israel announced it will launch a large-scale ground attack, and told one million Palestinians to leave northern Gaza. The announcement caused a terrified mass exodus into areas that were already under-resourced – and cannot sustain the influx without immediate aid.

As I write to you, aid is not arriving due to the closure of all routes in and out of Gaza. Our local partner is engaging with humanitarian agencies, including those working to establish humanitarian corridors.

Until then, Palestinians in Gaza remain under blockade and under attack.

We are dedicated to supporting NECC on the ground and remain committed to meeting the needs of the people in Gaza, both now and in the days and weeks ahead.

David, please keep the people of Gaza in your thoughts and prayers and give a gift today to help support families in urgent need.
In hope,

Geoff
